How to set up ThoughtSpot

Updated today

Setup takes about 10 minutes.

Introduction

Connecting ThoughtSpot to Foundational allows Foundational to read metadata from your ThoughtSpot instance.

To make the connection, you need to:

  • Assign permissions in ThoughtSpot

  • Retrieve the ThoughtSpot secret key

  • Connect Foundational to ThoughtSpot

Prerequisites

Ensure you have:

Access permissions

The permissions you assign to Foundational enable it to read metadata.

ThoughtSpot has different permissions depending on whether Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) is enabled or not.

Access method

Required permissions

Enabled

Assign the permissions:
Has Developer Privilege and Can share with all users.

Disabled (default)

Assign the role:
Can administer ThoughtSpot.

RBAC is disabled by default. To enable it, contact ThoughtSpot support. Once enabled, you cannot disable it.

For both methods, ensure the user has access to the liveboards, answers, and connections you want Foundational to scan.
