How to set up Slack

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Setup takes 5 minutes.

Introduction

Connecting Slack to Foundational allows Foundational to send automated alerts and notifications directly to your Slack channels—so you stay informed about changes that matter to you and get early warning of potential code breaks or downstream risks.

To make the connection, you need to:

  • Grant Foundational access to your Slack workspace and channels

Prerequisites

Ensure you have:

  • A Slack workspace

  • Permissions to install apps in your Slack workspace

Access permissions

The permissions you assign to Foundational enable it to:

  • View information and conversations for channels in your workspace

  • Send messages as @foundational to any channel

To manage or modify app permissions after installation, see the Slack article Manage app approval for your workspace.

Connect Foundational to Slack

  1. In Foundational, open the Connectors & Integrations page.

  2. In Other, select the Slack card and click Connect.

  3. A screen opens. Click Add workspace.

  4. The initial setup screen opens. Click Start Setup.

  5. The Set Up New Connection screen opens. Click Connect Slack Workspace.

  6. You are redirected to Slack. Review the permissions and click Allow.

That's it. Foundational is now connected to Slack.
