How to set up Microsoft Teams notifications

Introduction

Connecting Microsoft Teams to Foundational allows Foundational to send automated alerts and notifications directly to your channel, so you stay informed about changes that matter to you and get early warning of potential code breaks or downstream risks.

To make the connection, you need to:

  • Set up a webhook in Microsoft Teams

  • Connect the webhook to Foundational


Prerequisites

Ensure you have:

  • A Microsoft Teams account

  • Permissions to create workflows in your Microsoft Teams channels


Access permissions

The webhook connection allows Foundational to send messages to the specific channel you configure in the workflow.


Set up webhook in Microsoft Teams

  1. In Microsoft Teams, click on Apps > Workflows > Notifications.

  2. Choose Post to a channel when a webhook request is received.

  3. Enter a name of your choosing and click Next.

  4. Add a target Teams channel for Foundational to send notifications, and click Add Workflow.

  5. Copy the workflow URL. You need this to connect Foundational to Teams.

  6. Click Done.


Connect Foundational to Microsoft Teams

  1. In Foundational, open the Connectors & Integrations page.

  2. In Other, select the Microsoft Teams card and click Connect.

  3. A screen opens. Click Add to Notification Channel.


  4. The initial setup screen opens. Click Start Setup.

  5. The Setup New Connection screen opens.

    Enter the details:

    • Teams Channel Name: The name of the Teams channel to receive notifications and alerts.

    • Workflow URL: Paste the workflow URL you copied from Microsoft Teams.

  6. Click Next.

  7. The final setup screen opens. To complete the connection, click Save.

That's it. Foundational is now connected to Microsoft Teams.
