How to Set up TIBCO Data Virtualization (TDV)

Updated yesterday

Setup takes about 10 minutes.

Introduction

Connecting TIBCO Data Virtualization to Foundational allows Foundational to access TDV metadata and determine lineage.

To make the connection, you need to:

  • Create a TDV user for Foundational

  • Connect TDV to Foundational using the TDV server URL and user credentials

Prerequisites

Ensure you have:

Access permissions

Foundational requires administrator permissions in TDV to read metadata and determine lineage. It does not read or access data or run queries.

Non-admin users can see only the definitions they own. Granting admin permissions to Foundational allows it to see definitions for all users.

Create a TDV user for Foundational

  1. Sign in to TIBCO, open the Admin portal, and then go to Security > User Management.

  2. Add a new user.

    Enter the details:

    • User name: foundational

    • Password: Set a password and confirm it

    • Template: Administrator

  3. Save the user and password. You’ll need them to set up the connection.

Connect Foundational to TIBCO Data Virtualization

  1. In Foundational, open the Connectors & Integrations page.

  2. In ETL, select the TDV connector card and click Connect.

  3. Click Add Account.

  4. The initial setup screen opens. Click Start Setup

  5. The Set Up New Connection screen opens.

    Enter the details:

    • Server URL: Enter the full URL of your TDV server, including http:// or https://.

    • Authentication: Enter the TDV username and password for Foundational.

  6. Click Next.

  7. The final setup screen opens. To complete the connection, click Save.

That’s it. Foundational is now connected to TIBCO Data Virtualization.
